Cellulite – what is it and how to fight it? Cellulite, or orange peel, is a very unpleasant ailment affecting women. This condition is caused by the uneven distribution of fat cells in the body. It turns out that there are many ways to remove cellulite. You can do it without leaving home – all you need to do is follow a proper diet and exercise. Check what rules should be followed so that cellulite becomes only an unpleasant memory.
Cellulite – what is it?
Cellulite is a type of disorder in the structure of the skin (mainly subcutaneous tissue), which causes abnormal distribution of adipose tissue. In the vast majority of women affected by cellulite, unevenness and thickening appear on the hips, thighs, abdomen and buttocks. Depending on the phase of cellulite, imperfections on the skin may be visible only in a certain position or all the time, regardless of the position occupied. If cellulite is in an advanced form, it can be noticed even through clothes. In such cases, it is also associated with a lot of pain. The problem of cellulite affects about 80% of adult women. The latest data, however, show that it is also a problem for younger women (12% of them struggle with cellulite). Cellulite can attack people who have increased hormone activity. This applies to cases such as menopause, pregnancy, puberty or the moment during the menstrual cycle. Changes in the skin are caused by estrogens, which increase the permeability of the vessels in the subcutaneous tissue. This, in turn, leads to the formation of edema, which puts enormous pressure on the fat cells in the body. Then they are poorly oxygenated, which leads to an increase in their mass. After some time, inflammation may also appear, which causes fibrosis of the connective tissue. If a woman leads a sedentary lifestyle or is overweight, it makes cellulite spread even faster.
Where does cellulite come from?
Cellulite can result from many different causes. Any unevenness and lumps on the skin are very difficult to eliminate, so cellulite removal should be carried out as soon as possible. The sooner the therapy is introduced, the greater the chance that we will be able to eliminate cellulite in its entirety. Among the most important causes of cellulite, experts mention lack of physical activity, hormonal disorders, too much estrogen, a sedentary lifestyle, inappropriate eating habits, too large dinners, problems with circulation, a tendency to edema, varicose veins or wearing too tight clothing.
